Hello lovelies!
If you came here because you thought that I would be talking about spring colors then I'm sorry but I am not. But Emerald is the color of the year. You're welcome. This is about the most difficult choice I had to make so far in my wedding planning. COLORS! Before we were even engaged I wanted blush as my bridesmaid dresses color. I was using this bouquet as inspiration:

Then I thought that maybe not every one of my girls would like to wear blush because it may make you look like a ghost. SO I was like maybe navy would be pretty. So I picked navy. I was a little disappointed when I thought about decorating and how I would have to stick to mostly white. Like most brides I was searching pinterest daily. Any down time I had was spend searching the wedding section. BAD IDEA! Pinterest is great, it gives you tons of ideas BUT it also has the power of making you change your mind 10 times. So while searching I found a new photo:

AND there it was, the beautiful pink that I love. So I immediately went to Alfredo Angelo (My bridesmaid dress website) and found that the dress I picked came in this BEAUTIFUL pomegranate color. SOLD! (At that moment) When I told everyone some (ok 1 person) had "suggestions" AKA I hate pink don't choose it. So it made me think twice about it. Well the day came to pick the dresses and colors. She was not there and I had 2 of my bridesmaids that were down for anything and know how much I love pink. So they pushed me in the direction they know I really wanted. TA DAH I went with pomegranate! So the moral of the story is to be selfish and constantly remember that this is YOUR (ok, and your fiancé) wedding! Do what YOU want.

A Love Letter to Gap

Dear Gap,
I'm slightly obsessed with all your new spring items. Your merchandising team has also gone above and beyond to make me want to spend my money that I do not have. So I will continue to look at your beautiful pictures online while trying to come up with ways to make these outfits with my own closet OR stalk to website until sales come.

I want everything.

Also if you are like me and your bank account does not allow you to go on a spending spree then I have 5 tips for dressing up your dresses (According to Gap).

1. Layer UP! 1 word  CHAMBRAY. (Forever21 has an awesome selection right now)

2.Bare legs. I definitely have no problem showing off my pasty white legs.

3.Pick pastels.

4.Belt It! I love belts! Try a belt with a contrasting color like the pink dress with green belt.

5.Play with prints! Mix and match and figure out what you feel comfortable in. Throw some of the fashion rules out of the window!

Wedding Planning: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (The First 2 Months)

Weddings are supposed to be filled with love. While I have only been planning for 2 months I've learned a lot. Through my wedding planning i'm quickly finding out that that is not the case. It brings out REALLY ugly sides of some people. A day that is supposed to be about me and my fiancé is turning into fights between people that shouldn't even happen. So I have come up with a list of the good, the bad and the ugly of wedding planning in the early stages!


Good:

• Trying on wedding dresses. I loved trying on dresses. I think I tried on 15 before I found the one and a small part of me was sad that it was over. How many times do u get to try on amazing dresses?
• Bonding with my fiancé in new ways.
• Discovering new things about my fiancé. (He REALLY cares about the music & food (but I already knew that one))
• Spending time with my bridesmaids.
• Cake tastings!
• Bridal Shows (It's really fun winning things!)

The Bad:

• Spending all the money! (While I want the wedding of my dreams I do not want the wedding of my dreams to have an effect on our future.)
• Trying to get 5 girls to try on 1 dress.
• Picking out a dress that you feel comfortable asking girls to pay for.
• Picking a photographer.
• I'm starting to hate Pinterest! Yes, I said it. I think I figure out what I want and then BOOM I see a picture and want to change everything from colors, flowers, table settings and decorations.
• Invitations. They are expensive and no one really cares about them these days. When will it be acceptable to send out E-vites?

The Ugly:

• Everyone's opinion.
• People getting offended.
• People fighting over MY wedding that are not me and my fiancé or me and someone else.
• People trying to take over control.

My wedding planning is FAR from being over. I'm sure there will be more fights to come and more feelings hurt. I'm also sure these 3 list will continue to grow but I'm hoping The Good list is the one that grows the most. I also know that Oct. 12, the day after our wedding, the only thing we will care about is being married.

Make Up Favorites

Disclaimer: I am no make up professional.

I am here today to tell you about my favorite make up products! This is what I use as a natural look when I do wear make up.

1.bareMinerals Prime Time I never used a primer until I bought the bareMinerals start box. This has changed my experience with make up. I used to feel like by the end of the day all of my make up had worn off. Now it stays on all day!

2.Mary Kay TimeWise Matte-Wear I just started using this foundation. I like the way it looks and feels on my face. It provides the coverage I want without looking to made up.

3.Buxom Amplified Lash Mascara I got this mascara in a Sephora mascara gift set with 20 other mascaras. I love the brush and the way it gets every eye lash.

4.bareMineral Original Foundation When I want to just even out my skin I use this foundation. I also use it on top of the Mary Kay. This foundation also acts as a concealer with the bareMineral concealing brush! While I like the Mary Kay if I only had a choice of 1 I would choose the bareMinerals.

5.Elf Pink Passion The best part about this blush? Its $3 from Target! Plus it looks awesome and like you spent more than just $3.

6.Mary Kay blush in Sparkling Cider I like the natural look of this blush.

7.Jumbo Gloss Balm in Ruby Twist This feels more like a lipstick then gloss but honestly it doesn't really feel like anything!

8. Maybelline Eyeshadown in bronze haze These eye shadows are get from a neutral look.

9. Clinique Make Up Remover Great for removing your raccoon eyes after washing your face!

My make up can range from simple foundation and mascara to going all out! One thing that I never use is eyeliner. I hate the way it makes my eyes look. What are your favorite make up products?

Wedding Planning

Hello Lovelies!

I got engaged Christmas Eve! 

We are getting married October 11, 2013! I could not be happier right now. There are a few things I wish were different but I guess everything can't go the way you want it. So as of right now we have the church and reception locations booked! I have the dress I want picked out but I will continue to shop because I want to be 100% sure. Maybe I should just accept the fact that I got lucky and fell in love with the second dress I tried on but when else is it appropriate to try on beautiful dresses? So now that we are moving on to the smaller details it feel like I go back and forth before I make a decision. From bridesmaid dress colors to flowers there are soooo many options! I never realize how many details their were. I'm extremely lucky that my fiancé is patient. He even came to a bridal show with me and liked it.  So does anyone have any tips for wedding planning??

3) Hopefully getting a teaching job before the new school year begins.

I can easily see 2013 being my favorite year ever! I can't wait to see what each day has in store for me.

What To Wear: Christmas

Hello Fashionistas!

Christmas is 12 days away! Guess who hasn't bought any gifts yet?? THIS GIRL! I shop better under pressure anyway. So this Christmas for me will be a special one so I feel like I need something special to wear. Living in Louisiana makes it impossible to plan what to wear for christmas. This morning it was 32 but will warm up to the mid 60s and this weekend has 70s in the forecast! So do I wear a cute sweater, jeans and boots or do I wear a dress plus or minus the tights? So until the day gets closer I will not buy anything. But I will be glad to show you my options.

Black Friday & Cyber Monday

Helloo Fashionistas!
I hope you all survived Black Friday! My Black Friday was boring. I only went to Hobby Lobby and I didn't buy anything! Why you ask? Oh I was broke! Why can't Black Friday be after finals when I have sold my books back and have some extra cash!! You know what is worst than Black Friday? Cyber Monday! At least I can avoid looking at sales on Black Friday but on Cyber Monday my inbox gets flooded! Of the 41 emails only 2 were non cyber Monday deals. Oh well! Look out next black Friday! I will have a big girl job!!

High Five for Friday

I got a special request for a High Five for Friday post from my #1 reader. Hi Ashley!! So since its been awhile I'm going to expand this to beyond just this week.

1) Halloween was our 4 year anniversary. Its been a long journey but I wouldn't want it to be with anyone else! I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us.

4) We have had some "cold" days that made wearing boots appropriate.

Even though you wont be moving with me to NOLA I know you will be there with my in my heart and constantly blowing up my phone with text messages! I love you.

Home is Where the Heart is

Hello Lovelies!

Halloween is my boyfriend and I's 4 year anniversary. He lives in New Orleans and I'm still in school in Lafayette so i'm stuck here. I've spent 95% of the last four years going back and forth to NOLA. While I have moved a few times since we have been dating he has stayed in the same place. I even have plans of moving there in August. So this weekend we ran into different places while running errands that all asked the question "Are y'all from here?" my response was always "he is". After breakfast Sunday morning, we went for a drive through the French Quarter. Guy out of nowhere says "you know this weekend 3 different people have asked us if we are from here and you have always replied he is, that kind of upsets me." When I asked him why that upset him he said that I spend more time in NOLA then Lafayette and that I've been there for 4 years. So that got me thinking. He is right, I do spend more time there and it feels more like home than this place does. I've always known that I would move to NOLA once I was finished with school. My boyfriend is there and so is my dog. So if home is really where the heart is well then I am proud to say that New Orleans is my home! More specifically the building on the right is home.

I wore this dress for a night out at the new L'Auberge casino in Baton Rouge.It was a great time minus the fact that I lost all the money that I was given to gamble with but Guy kept reminding me that the money was given to me to gamble with and it wasn't my money that I lost. I just kept thinking yeah but I could've pocketed it and bought a really nice purse with it. Oh well! I also can't wait until the temperatures drop a little so I can wear this dress with these boots:

High Five For Friday

School has been keeping me insanely busy these past few weeks.

1) This guy running down the drive way when you pull up screaming NANNY and rapping his cubby little arms around you. BEST FEELING EVER! 

2) My always supportive sister! I love her and don't know what I would do without her.

3) Finding out that I will graduate at the end of Summer 2013. WOOOHOOOO

4) My chicken spaghetti! It was my second time making it and I'm proud that I made it on my own.

5) Little Miss Killian Leigh decided to make her debut on Wednesday.

August

Helloo FASIONISTAS!

August is half way over which means classes start Monday and my birthday is Tuesday! I'm also proud of myself for making it this far into August and not chopping off my hair. I usually spend a year growing out my hair to cut it off in August when I can't take the heat anymore. Pinterest makes me want to chop it off and keep it long all at the same time. Oh that little devil. I know once the first drop in temperature happens I will be grateful to have my long hair to keep my ears warm. Speaking of cold and pinterest! I am 34 pins into my fall/winter board and its giving me tons of inspiration for the clothes I currently own. (ALWAYS A PLUS!) So today I thought I would leave you with some cold weather inspiration for my pinterest board!
